Photographers Watch Out, SEO “Scams” About.
To My Magical Clients & All Other Togs, And Just Curious People Landing On This Blog Post, Who Have Been, Or Nearly Been Scammed By SEO “Experts”.
I want to take a moment to share something that's been sitting heavy, especially as I deeply care about all of you wonderful beings and your financial well-being as small business owners, mothers, and creatives.
Recently, I've had several of my incredible clients reach out with concerns about an individual offering SEO audits and services. Unfortunately, many of these "audits" are generated using ChatGPT or other free resources and are then sold to you as something unique and valuable. The truth is, much of this information is publicly available and can be accessed without paying a premium. Even worse, the tactics used to push these services are concerning and leveraging high-pressure sales techniques.
As someone who understands how much you put into your business, I feel a responsibility to step in and ensure you're not spending the money that you need for your brand and family on services that don't genuinely benefit you or your brand. Here are a few 🚩 red flags 🚩 to watch out for:
🚩 Businesses that message you repeatedly on Instagram, touting their services or ‘checking in’
🚩 High-pressure tactics like “This is a one-time offer—only available for the next 24 hours!”
🚩 Promises that sound too good to be true (like “We’ll get you to number 1 on Google in 1 day!”).
🚩 Dodging your questions or giving vague answers. If you ask specific questions and they avoid replying directly or change the subject, that’s a big sign they’re not trustworthy.
🚩 Over-the-top flattery: if it feels like they’re buttering up, trust your gut.
To be clear, AI-assisted content itself isn’t the issue. The problem is when AI-generated content is misrepresented and sold to you as a personalised SEO audit or similar service—often paired with unrealistic promises. Transparency matters. You deserve to know exactly what you’re paying for, especially if it’s something you could easily access yourself, for free, in just seconds.
